Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Gala)
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons milk or cream
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix diced apples with granulated sugar and cinnamon; set aside.
  3. For the topping, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter until crumbly.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; in another bowl, beat butter with sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time along with vanilla and milk before gradually mixing in dry ingredients.
  5. In a separate bowl, whip cream cheese with sugar, flour, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth.
  6. Layer half the batter into the prepared pan followed by half of the apple mixture and cream cheese filling; repeat layers and top with crisp topping.
  7. Bake for about 60 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool before drizzling with glaze made from powdered sugar mixed with milk.
