  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground all spice
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 100 g dark brown sugar
  • 200 g apples (grated)
  • 110 g vegetable oil (room temperature)
  • 2 eggs (room temperature)
  • 140 g sour cream (14-18% room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100 g butter (room temperature)
  • 165 g powdered sugar
  • 23 tsp caramel
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the caramel sauce by melting granulated sugar with water until golden. Stir in butter, heavy cream, and salt; let cool.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt in one bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together sugars, grated apples, vegetable oil, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry mixtures gently until just mixed.
  5. Pour into a greased cake pan and bake at 350°F (180°C) for about 45 minutes.
  6. For the buttercream, beat room temperature butter with powdered sugar until fluffy; add cooled caramel and vanilla.
  7. Once the cake is cooled completely, frost with buttercream and drizzle more caramel over the top.
