- 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the minced garlic and chopped onion for about 10 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped stewed tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, ground cumin, dried oregano, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for one hour while occasionally stirring.
- After an hour, add the rinsed pinto beans and salt. Cook for another 15 minutes before serving.
