  • 1 box (15.25 oz) vanilla cake mix
  • 1 cup water (240 mL)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (120 mL)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (50 g)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened (225 g)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (120 g)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk (240 mL)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (90 g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs; mix until smooth.
  3. Pour half the batter into the prepared pan.
  4. In another bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth; spread over the batter in the pan.
  5. Spoon the remaining batter over the cream cheese layer evenly.
  6. Whisk together cocoa powder and milk; drizzle over the top of the batter.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  8. Bake for 40–45 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool completely before serving.
