  • 10 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 inches fresh ginger
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 teaspoons black peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Chop the apples into quarters and core them without peeling.
  2. For Instant Pot: Combine chopped apples, sliced ginger, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, and water in the pot. Cook on high pressure for 18 minutes and release steam manually.
  3. For stovetop: In a stockpot, combine all ingredients and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes until apples are soft; let steep for an additional 10 minutes off heat.
  4. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
  5. Allow to cool completely before refrigerating.
