  • 1 lb beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 large onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. Marinade: Whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, garlic, and half of the vegetable oil. Add beef strips and marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Cook Onions: Heat remaining oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions until soft and caramelized; season with salt and pepper.
  3. Sear Beef: Increase heat to high; add marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned.
  4. Sauce: Combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch in a bowl. Pour over beef in skillet; simmer until thickened.
  5. Combine: Add cooked onions back into the skillet; mix well. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
